How is the period of a pendulum related to how hard the pendulum is pushed....?

You probably know that the clock known (incorrectly) as Big Ben is regulated by adding or subtracting coins from its pendulum. Adding a coin raises the centre of m (slightly) so makes the clock run faster, by about 0.4 seconds per day.
